Canterbury Road

Here at Canterbury Road, located in a quiet residential street in Leytonstone, we provide a safe and comfortable environment as a community-based day service.

The service, which caters for adults with a range of learning disabilities and complex needs, is extremely proud to have received accreditation from the National Autistic Society in 2013.

The person-centred programme is varied and stimulating, with each individual having a bespoke programme tailored to meet their individual needs.

Activities are not solely based at the service and take place using local community facilities, helping to provide a wider choices of activities and better opportunities for service users to become integrated into community life. The service is used as a base for occasions when an individual may have a particular health issue, requires a safe place during periods of an anxiety, or for those days we simply cannot rely on the British weather.

Those who use the service, which is open seven days a week, range in age from early twenties to over sixty, and there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Service users can take part in a range of social and leisure activities including country walks, bike riding, bowling and ice skating to name but a few. Canterbury Road also offers a variety of in-house activities such as cooking, music sessions and relaxation time.

“I would like to say how happy we are with your service. My son/daughter, has settled in very well and enjoys the different activities. The workers are lovely, always punctual and very supportive.” – Service user parent

“Since transferring to Canterbury Road my enthusiasm for the field has been renewed and it has been a great opportunity for me to structure my work with my autistic key client to provide better outcomes.” – Canterbury Road staff member
