Wood Street is a specialist service providing intensive support to adults with autism and complex needs.
The service, which formerly operated from Canterbury Road, acts as a safe base to allow the people we support to access services within their local community. Social and leisure opportunities on offer include country walks, swimming, bike rides, bowling, ice skating and day trips. We also support people to attend college groups and have positive peer group interactions.
Our highly-trained staff offer one-to-one or two-to-one support to our service users, who each have tailored plans to ensure their needs are met and they are able to participate in a meaningful and positive way.
As a service we are proud that we attained National Autistic Society accreditation, which is a very difficult quality standard to achieve and required several inspection visits from NAS representatives.
“Since transferring to the specialist services, my enthusiasm for the field has been renewed. It has also helped me structure my work with my autistic key client to provide better outcomes. – DG (new staff member).
“I have recently become a senior and relishing the responsibility of providing a great service for our clients. I have also loved playing a key role in setting up Green Lanes.” – CW (senior member of staff).
“Just a quick line to say how happy Martin and I are with your service. Martin has settled in very well and enjoys the different activities. The workers are lovely, always punctual and very supportive.” – (Parent).
“Great to see you both, it was really helpful to have you there when you’ve got such good understanding of Y.” – Challenging Behaviour Expert.
