Argyle Road Short Breaks Service, in Ilford, provides 24 hour short stay accommodation and support for adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities.
The service, which is located in the heart of the town, is a mid-terrace Victorian property with six single bedrooms, each with their own hand basin and vanity unit.
Our team of staff provide a homely, warm and relaxed atmosphere, offering a real home away from home for service users.
Our foremost mission is to encourage independence and empower service users to reach their full potential, by developing new skills, living as part of the local community and leading full and active lives.
Activities our service users enjoy include bowling, the cinema, discos, dining out and trips to the theatre to name but a few.
We strive to support our service users to achieve their goals – with a recent notable success story was supporting someone to access a local college to learn new skills, whilst also gaining a volunteering role in the area of her interest; catering and sales. We worked in partnership with the training provider to ensure she was fully supported. The end result was a very happy service user who flourished in her job role.
“Regardless of the individual’s disability, our focus in on their ability and empowering them to be who they want and what they want to achieve. Our ethos is to work from a strengths perspective.” – Oluwakemi Yusuf, Arygle Road Support Worker.
“Argyle Road is a God send, we are so grateful for the service and the way they care for my daughter. It is a great service; it feels so warm, friendly and professional. If you have any issues the staff will follow it up and give feedback, point you in the right direction for help and offer further support. My daughter enjoys it a great deal, she loves the activities and she feels very included in everything that takes place. She is very happy to come and stay.” – Mrs Earrey, Service User parent.
